Party 4 Charity…Jay Colbert 4 Charity?
I guess sometimes we get caught up in ourselves and forget about the world around us. After all it’s easy to be self centered and so concerned with what’s going on in our life that we don’t even have time to think about anyone else. Which brings me to this weeks blog: charity. It’s a word that many of us only think of around the holidays or when we see a telethon on TV for a special cause. Well, with the holidays fast approaching, I would like to take time to think about it now.
The word charity means: benevolent goodwill toward or love of humanity, generosity and helpfulness especially toward the needy or suffering, aid given to those in need, an institution engaged in relief of the poor (according to www.merriam-webster.com). This holiday season, I think there are going to be a lot of people who would appreciate charity from people in a position to be a blessing. Last week I talked about planning a party in my blog and asked for every one’s input. Now, I’m asking for every one’s help to throw a party to make a difference in the life of people who need some help.
In the weeks to come, I will be posting more details in my blog, but for now I will leave you with this. Because of the current economy, I have decided to throw a party around the holidays for charity. I will be making calls to local non-profit organizations to partner with them to raise money for the less fortunate to buy groceries and necessities. I also will be looking for sponsors to help cover some of the costs for this party because I have decided to make this a no cover charge event. That means that you… my friends… will be getting in free. I may ask everyone to bring can goods or make a donation directly to the non-profit of your choice but all in all the party will be on me. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I will be working diligently to put everything together.
Last but not least, I will also be making a decision in the weeks to come whether or not I will be releasing Jay Colbert 4 $ale or another mix tape in November. I’m kind of thinking of releasing a Jay Colbert 4 Charity mix tape since the economy is still bad. Hit me up on facebook with your feedback and let me know what you think.

I’m Planning to Have A Party & Your Input Is Needed
I am planning to have a party in either November of 2009 or in April of 2010 and I need your input. I am looking to have the party around Thanksgiving on Saturday Nov 22 or Wednesday Nov 25, or during Spring break on Friday April 2 or Saturday April 3 in the Lorain-Cleveland area. As you all know, the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest party nights of the year. But it’s also a time when many people are away on vacation. Spring break is also a good time of year to have a party because everyone is ready to get out of the house from being inside all winter. So if I am going to throw a party… then I want to do it right (you know I’m trying to do it BIG…but I want to be smart about it… I can’t afford to take no L’s). My goal is to keep it simple, inexpensive, and in a good location so everyone will want to come. All I need to know from you is:
1) Are you interested in coming to the party? A.)Yes B.) Maybe C.) No
2) When should I have the party? A.) Thanksgiving B.) Spring break
3) What scenario sounds better?
Scenario A Scenario B Scenario C

Your input is important to me. Just leave me a comment on facebook with your A B or C answers, feedback, and thoughts (www.facebook.com/jaycolbertaka). Please keep in mind that the more I have to spend to host the party, the more I have to charge for admission to at least break even. This party is very important to me as we will be celebrating a number of things: the album release of my new CD and Digital Album “Jay Colbert 4 $ale”, the 1 year anniversary of Jay Colbert Concoctions LLC, and Randi’s B-Day (if we have it in November).
Earlier this year, I had a party for my B-Day in downtown Cleveland at The Clevelander and we had an awesome time. The only problem was: we had to pay for catering which forced us to charge $10 and $15 a ticket, everyone had to pay for parking and walk to the club in the cold, and… we had a mediocre turnout because of the state of the economy not to mention we didn’t even break even. I hope this time we will have more people and get a chance to really kick it with all my friends and fam. But in order for us to continue to do events, we need to know how to better serve you so you can enjoy yourself and have a good time, and so we can throw successful parties and not be in the red. Thank you for your time and input, I appreciate the love and support.
